You lie awake doing the math and everything adds up to wealth and fortune. After all, numbers don’t lie. Counting the numbers imagining what you could do with all that money. Love sure breaks hearts but businesses break even more hearts! Raised expectations followed by massive disappointments in many cases. Massive debts, unreliable people, disappointing numbers, tested passions and broken dreams. It helps to be positive but it saves a whole lot more to be realistic. In the calculations, do you account for the fact that not everything goes according to plan? There is a… Continue reading →
It seems everyone these days is trying to get out of the rat race. I keep seeing all these articles shared on Facebook and Twitter about the “golden handcuffs” and the endless fruitless rat race. I guess they are supposed to open our eyes; make us stop being fooled by the flashy cars and surface lifestyles that hide the quiet desperation of employees worldwide. It’s a trap, they claim. Do I agree? Can I plead the fifth? I’ll be Switzerland on this one. Picture a lab rat running around in circles in a maze or… Continue reading →
This is for all the independent ladies, hustling everyday and looking good while doing it. Statistics show that despite the rise in the income and education that women still retire with less money than men. Lucky for me i have never really been a big spender when it comes to buying material things. I am however a spender when it comes to travelling and to wanting nice new exhillarating experiences. Travel isn’t cheap, why lie neither is it fun when you are broke. You should never let money rule your life because some day you… Continue reading →
Happy New Year 2011! It’s great that we all get to see a new year even as we cringe as the years add on to our ages, but oh well…such is life. It strikes me as no coincidence that during the festive season, there are so many competitions, raffles, pick-and-win’s, shop-and-grab’s, etc. Why is it that there is an influx of these competitions when the holiday season rolls around? At every supermarket there is a raffle of some sort. Shop for goods worth 1,000 and get a raffle ticket to win a Vitz or whatever… Continue reading →
A Lot of people are poor simply because they cannot adapt to frugality. They either choose not to, or do not know how to live cheap when occasion calls. For women, frugality is a blessing when times are hard and the home must keep moving. We get used to lifestyles reflected by our earnings. The more the merrier. The more also, the more extravagance sets in. When you have grown knowing or exposed to living frugally, you are well able to cut costs even drastically, when occasion demands. I know people who have raised sharply… Continue reading →
Whoever came up with the marital vows must have been a very ignorant person. He must have been so absolutely oblivious of the entire world, including the person he must have written them for, to come up with such stark nonsense. I admit, the words could get to you, if you’re twelve and you don’t know anything about what the world is about. A poet like me could appreciate them too I suppose…but am not that blind. There must be meaning in my poetry, life experience so to speak. Write what I know is the… Continue reading →
