Over the last century only one type of shoe has remained timeless in a woman’s wardrobe, the boot. The boot has been around since the 16th and 17th century and was mainly worn in the North America due to rough terrain. However it was popularized by the American cowboys in the 18th century and up to today it is widely associated with the Wild Wild West.
Over the years the boot has evolved, and once worn out of necessity has become a fashion item in our wardrobes. Boots come in various materials, shapes and sizes but over the years there have been three main designs of the boot: knee length, ankle length and thigh length.
At least one in every five women owns a pair or pairs of boots, but we tend to wear them all wrong or not wear them at all because we are confused on what to pair them up with. Here are a few tips on which boot to wear with what.
Ankle length boots
These kinds of boots are best worn with skinny jeans especially if they round toe or sharp pointed. The box shaped ones can be paired up with a pair of formal office pants. Another way to wear this kind of boots is to wear them with short skirt/ dress (just above the knee) paired with black or opaque tights.
Ankle length boots are however not suitable for short people as the make calves appear thicker and legs shorter. Read the rest of this entry →
I was at a chamaa meeting last week and it seemed like I spent most of my recess time leaning against the refreshment table. It’s not that I was waiting to see who would take the last of the appetizing black forest cake or for extra helpings, but I had a rather peculiar reason. You see, I had worn very uncomfortable platform pumps that were causing me to lose my balance. The lean against that table was my shameless disguise as I tried to find my balance. This went on for long and at some point I gave up on the uncomfortable platform pumps (or did them platform pumps give up on me?) and switched to my emergency sandals; the ones I carry along for days like these. The woman seated next to me gave me the ‘are you seriously gona wear sandals’ look and in response I gave her the ‘Can’t a woman wear sandals and still look good?’ stare!
You see, I’m not exactly your everyday ‘heels wearing’ type of girl. I’m almost six feet tall but it’s not even about the height and neither I’m I scared of the extra height. I actually kinda enjoy the top view of people’s heads; it’s about the comfort and the fact that sandals are very versatile. I can’t climb up and down the stairs at work in high heels but with sandals, I can comfortably bare the lack of a functioning elevator. Read the rest of this entry →
The Exercise Habit is not the easiest habit for most people, and most people’s experiences (me included) consist of starting and stopping and starting again. Which is fine — don’t beat yourself up about it. The important thing is starting again.
The Main Problems
So why do most people have trouble making exercise a regular habit? Well, there are probably a number of factors, but here are the main ones:
Too difficult. People set out with a lot of ambition and enthusiasm, and start out with a big goal. “I’m going to go to the gym for an hour a day!” or “I’m going to hit the tread mill for 30 minutes every day!” The problem is that the goal is too difficult to sustain for very long. You can do it for a few days, but you soon run out of energy, and it becomes a drag to do it. Read the rest of this entry →
Social bookmarking websites allow you to store and share links to websites across the internet. You can share these links both with friends and people with similar interests. You can also access your links from any computer you happen to be using. This is a great way organize websites or articles that you find interesting.
So, if you come across an article on The Lily Review that you find interesting and want to save for future reference or share it with other people, simply click on one of these links (at the bottom of each article) to add to your list. Read the rest of this entry →
What is RSS? RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, blogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
Benefits and Reasons for using RSS
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site’s email newsletter. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like the Nation and Business Daily websites.
What do I need to do to read an RSS Feed? RSS Feed Readers
Feed Reader software allow you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read. A variety of RSS Readers are available and can web-based (accessed from a website) or desktop-based (installed in a computer). Below is a video explaining RSS in plain english.
