Lisa you totally made my night. I’m so proud of you for finally getting away from Blueshield. By the way, I totally understand you getting insurance out of obligation and not love. I just hope that this turns out to be a much better experience for you. By the way I did e-mail Blueshield but never heard back so good riddance, yes? Please do keep us posted.

Thanks for raving about the Embakasi Police Station gender violence office. The boys and girls in blue catch a lot of flak for all the laws they flout and the stress they cause. It’s so nice to see that there’s a section of them that’s doing good work. Congratulations to them, along with our deepest thanks for the good work that they’re apparently doing.

Thanks guys for all the encouragement. I have since done my homework and moved on to Geminia. (With my confidence in insurance so dented I only paid up for it to comply with the law).

Rave: I know how most of us feel about the boys in blue but Embakasi Police Station gender violence office…yes they have one and the officers there are doing a great job for all the distressed children, women and men of Embakasi and environs.(It’s a jungle out there…!)

I really had no idea that Blueshield was supposedly going under. Major gasp here! I’m no expert but is sounds like a company getting this much negative press isn’t worth the trouble.

Anyone having any good experiences with insurance, whether car, health or otherwise? Please do share.

Quill, thanks for visiting. Thanks so much for sharing the insurance info. I’m the first to admit that I tend to think price instead of value. Lisa’s situation has definitely changed my position on that. Next time I’m purchasing insurance, I’ll try to think value and not price.

Lisa, your pain is not for nothing. At the very very least, it will serve to help us make better decisions and stay awaaaaaay from Blueshield! Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

I dont mean to add to your misery Lisa but I gather that Blueshield is having issues and may be going under. Not sure how that helps you when you are already so affected but I hope it helps shed some light on the goings on.

I agree with Quill … cheap really is expensive! And its also good to look at what you are getting for the money you are paying. You’ll be shocked by what you find out.

Now dear Mia, well done for starting such an interesting post. I sure intend to come back again and again to see whats new. Way to go you!!!

I am really sorry to hear about your unfortunate event.I want to be honest about something.Kenyans go for the cheaper insurance policies but what they do not know is that cheap is expensive. I work in the insurance industry and as a matter of fact I have seen cases of yours being paid by reputable insurances like Chartis and Lion of Kenya.In fact if you moved your insurance to either trust me you would enjoy full benefit of having had your car fixed in a week and that claim paid before you know it.Consider it,you may have to pay more to get a super great service but trust me it is so worth it

My dear Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles with Blueshield. What a total embarassment to them!

Your story is enough to make me (and I’m sure our loyal readers) think twice before choosing Blueshield for our insurance needs. Please do keep us posted on progress with your case. You never know; one of them might read this and bring you solutions to this mess they’ve created.

As for Blueshield: If this is true (2 sides to every story), then SHAME SHAME SHAME on you. Tsk tsk!

Rant: About insurance, specifically blueshield insurance. I insured my car with them. In January last year I had an accident, they asked me to take the vehicle to some garage in Industrial area.To date my car has never been fixed and it was vandalized. Blueshield were not doing anything and I eventually ended up at the Insurance regulatory authority. Anyway, if you are thinking of insuring with blueshield……….after repeated visits to blueshield office i have had to repair my car at my cost. Oh and the worst civil servants are very efficient and friendly compared to the people at upperhill……You have been warned
